Elections to the European Parliament will be held in all 25 EU Member States, between 10-13 June 2004, with 732 MEPs due to be elected.

The fifth EP elections to be held in Spain will take place on June 13, 2004.

There will be 732 MEPs sitting in the European Parliament after this year's elections of which Spain will elect 54.

This new European Parliament will represent more than 450 million European Union citizens from 25 European Member States: for we must take into account not only Austria, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Great Britain, Ireland, Sweden, Greece, Finland and Denmark, but also Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, the Slovak Republic, and Slovenia: 10 accession countries that are set to join the European Union on 1st May 2004.

The Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Spain welcomes these 10 new Member States and wishes this EP elections’ web site to become a useful tool for these new citizens of the EU as well as for those more than 35 million electors that will be able to cast their EP votes in Spain.

Visitors of this web page, only available in Spanish, will have access to different sections: the electors’ F.A.Q.; the electoral procedure norms and Schedule; Institutional Electoral Campaings’ videos; the candidates’ lists and, of course it will be possible, after 22:00 on the EP election day in Spain, June 13 2004, to check on line, and on real time, the EP elections’ preliminary results given out by the Spanish Government.

I do hope this information turns out to be appealing, interesting and useful to its readers. If this gets to be so, we will have achieved our main goal.
